Frequently asked questions

Where do you source your meat from?

Ultimately you are able to choose to have exclusively meat from our farm.

Much of the beef and lamb we have on display is from our own farm. We do however need to supplement certain primals and bodies from other local farms or from mainstream sources that match our quality standards to keep up with demand. Other species such as chicken, pork, goat, and buffalo comes from suppliers outside our farm, some of which are amazing free range local suppliers.

We grow our own lambs and cattle here on the farm just outside Burraboi, NSW. We have 4200 acres with a turnover of about 200 cattle and 300 lambs a year. We breed sheep and cattle and raise them in a pure free range environment to the highest animal welfare standards and high quality meat producing practices, including low stress animal handling, open paddocks, regenerative pasture, cover, shelter. Our cattle are free from antibiotics and hormones. We are accredited with the following:

  • JBS Farm Assurance
  • Teys Grasslands
  • Land to Market Regenerative farming
  • EUCAS

What’s your returns policy?

We take pride in supplying high quality, fresh products.

If a product is:

  • Spoiled or not of acceptable quality at the time of purchase
  • Incorrectly cut, packed, or supplied
  • Not what you ordered

Please contact us within 24 hours of purchase with proof of purchase. We will happily offer a refund, replacement, or store credit, in line with Australian Consumer Law.

We do not refund for change of mind, including over-purchasing or deciding not to use the product after purchase.

We are unable to accept returns or issue refunds for products that:

  • Are returned outside a reasonable timeframe
  • Have been improperly stored or left unrefrigerated
  • Have been used, or partially consumed

Pattison Pastoral is not responsible for poor handling after dispatch with another carrier, however we will pursue concerns from customers if they arise and seek their reimbursement.

Can we visit the farm?

Yes! We are committed to transparency so come and meet us and our family. Just get in touch to make sure we’re not too busy in the paddock.

Are your goods gluten free, and do you ever use preservatives?

The vast majority of our products are gluten and preservative free.

Due to the short shelf life of products like sausages, we can make custom preservative free lines to order, otherwise we tend to use mainstream gluten free meals that do contain preservative.

We also have a gluten free crumb we can use. If you’d like a gluten free crumb product please let us know in advance so we can prepare it before and other crumbs have been used in our work areas.

How long do the products last for?

When kept at the advised temperatures of 2-4ºC (for refrigerated meats) our red meats have minimum 2 weeks best before dates. The goods are vac sealed, we cannot ensure that UNSEALED fresh meat will last for longer than 3 days if not stored correctly at home. Our sausages and rissoles have a shorter best before date, and our smallgoods have a longer shelf life.

How is your beef packed?

Our beef is portioned and vacuum packed for leak free convenience. Each pack is labelled with the cut and use by date. The use by date applies to the cut as fresh. It is then packed in a sealed recyclable box. From time to time we choose to freeze our beef to uphold quality at eating time.

Can we alter what’s in our beef box?

We are able to accommodate some modifications and even sausage recipes. For example, if you would like Osso Bucco instead of diced beef, or if you like spicy sausages. Get in touch to see if we can help with your request.
